ACTIVITY MORNINGS
The latest Activity morning took place on Saturday morning April 8th and then we stopped for the summer. Please note in your diary that we start again at the end of September.
The upcoming dates are
Saturday September 30th 10am until 12.30
Saturday October 21st 10am until 12.30

WALKS
Following the successful early morning bird walk and then floral walk with David Bevan, we have now arranged a tree walk led by Jonathan Meares, who manages trees for the City of London and who has kindly agreed to do a walk around Big Wood. This will take place on Sunday July 9th starting at 10.30am. Please contact Bruce Mackay on brucemackay47@gmail.com to reserve a place on the walk. We have also arranged for a walk examining fungi in the wood which will take place on Wednesday September 27th starting at 10.30am. All walks start at the Temple Fortune Hill entrance to the wood.

EVENING MEETINGS
We will be holding an evening meeting at Fellowship House on Tuesday September 12th at 7.30pm. After bringing you all up to date on a few admin matters, we will listen to a talk by David Darrel Lambert on “Waders”. This will be followed by drinks. We have also reserved Fellowship Hall for the evening of Tuesday November 21st at 7.30pm. The committee have commissioned a survey into the range of insects in Big Wood and the expert we have commissioned will be presenting some of his findings.

OAK PROCESSIONARY MOTH
A nest has been found in nearby Queenswood and two nests have already been found on the Heath. So far there is no evidence of nests in Big Wood but if any of you discover anything, please advise a member of the Committee so we can contact Barnet and the Forestry Commission who deal with this pest.
